Proper installation of roof drip edge.
You may need to nail through the starter strip into the drip edge.
Apply a continuous bead of cement along the top of the drip edge then press down on the shingle.
Place a nail at one end then the other.
Make sure the corner is tight and that the bottom edge is tight to the fascia before nailing off the drip edge.
Make sure the outer edge extends over the gutter.
At the rake the drip edge is installed over the underlay.
Secure the drip edge with roofing cement.
Slide the corner tight to the fascia.
To install a drip edge on a newly constructed roof or on a re roofing job attach the drip edge along the roof s eaves first.
It can be done.
Be sure to tuck the drip edge under the starter strip and felt paper.
Slightly open the hemmed edge to slide this piece over top of the installed piece on the eave.
Once free slide the drip edge out and discard.
If it doesn t pull the drip edge out slightly from under the shingles.
On the gable rake install drip edge starting at the bottom and working up.
Use a flat pry bar and hammer to pry the nails out of the drip edge gently.
Gently lift up the shingles on the edge of the roof and locate the nails holding the existing drip edge onto.
Align the leading bottom edge of the first piece on the gable rake with the front edge of the drip edge installed on the eave.
How to install drip edge flashing to a new roof.
The drip edge should be nailed centered in the top surface every 8 to 10 inches.
The roof leg should extend a minimum of 2 back onto the roof sheathing.
Make sure to support the long end of the cut if you let it fall after cutting it will bend down and kink the drip edge.
Slip the wide flat flange of the material all the way under the first course of roof shingles as illustrated.
While the vertical leg should be placed 1 4 1 2 away from the fascia.
